Steph Stilwell introduces herself while standing in front of her eclectic, colorful, and eye-catching gallery wall. She says, “Hello I’m Steph Stilwell and I’m an illustrator and art director living in Brooklyn, New York.”
Steph hand illustrated an opening title card reads, “Yamazaki Home Spotlight with Steph Stilwell.” She writes her names at the end of the Title card as the upbeat music plays.
Steph sits on a yellow couch in her living room, talking to an off-camera interviewer. She says, “I got into illustration a very long time ago. Like, ever since I was a kid, I was always drawing. And then by the time I got to high school, I was taking like every art class possible.”
Steph continues talking about her artistic career and upbringing over images of her in college art classes and her early pattern making projects on display at university. She says, “And so then I went to college and while I was there, I think I just realized that I could put my art on so many different things. Uh, greeting cards, books, and it could find its way into other people's homes and lives. So that was really what got me into illustration.”
Images of Steph holding her book “A Pizza My Heart” and pictures of her reading to children at the library play as she talks about how proud she is of creating the circle-shaped book. She says, “So my proudest project is definitely a piece of my heart. It was the first book that had all of those things and everything else kind of came after that.”
Pictures of Steph’s home play to cheerful music as she describes how she uses different Yamazaki Home products to keep her Brooklyn-sized apartment nice and organized. She uses different Yamazaki Home products throughout the kitchen, living room, and her in-home-studio to stay neat and tidy while also maximizing her ability to be creative. She uses the Yellow Pear Apartment Therapy Rolling Cart (available in Butter Yellow) to organize kitchen cleaning products, the entryway table to hold everything she needs to get out the door, the Forest Green Strategist Magnetic Caddy to organize spices and oils, the Forest Green Storage Ladder to organize blankets and throws, and the Tosca Medium Storage Baskets to keep everything from dish towels (in the kitchen) to extra copies of her books (in her office) tidy and easily accessible.
She says, “I love Yamazaki home products because they fit into my space so effortlessly. The way they're designed, they're so clean and sleek and so they really can go anywhere in my apartment, but it also means that they're really versatile and they'll stay with me forever. I just think they're evergreen and long-lasting. So, even as my style evolves, they're always going to fit. My favorite thing that I have in the kitchen from Yamazaki Home is the storage caddy that's magnetic. I'm trying to unwind and cook. Everything is kind of right where it needs to be. And it all just looks so cute and such good colors for my apartment.”
