In celebration of Mother’s Day, we sat down with Ashley Jenke—food stylist and devoted mom—to talk about the rhythms of motherhood, the beauty of a well-loved home, and the small moments that make this season meaningful.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, we sat down with Ashley Jenke (@ashleyjenke), a food stylist and mother of two, for a discussion about motherhood, intentional living, and how she creates a calming and functional space for her family. Known for her minimalist aesthetic and thoughtful approach to home design, Jenke shared how she finds balance in the everyday chaos and the small moments that make motherhood so meaningful.
Jenke first encountered Yamazaki Home at the Container Store. She said, “I fell in love with the Tosca baskets and I knew I needed them for my pantry refresh.” "Now," she said, “I have too many items to count.”
Jenke’s home has become a creative and practical showcase of how versatile Yamazaki Home pieces can be. Although it was hard for her to pick a favorite design, she said, “As a mom of two little ones, the Favori Storage Caddy has been amazing. I’ve used it as a diaper caddy, an art box, Lego container, bedtime book holder, toy bin, and more!” Discover how the Yamazaki Home staff uses their Favori Storage Caddies here!

"The Tosca Steel and Wood Bread Box has been an amazing item. It’s excellent for storing grab-and-go breakfast items, providing additional kitchen storage, and sometimes … the perfect place for hiding dessert from the kids!" —Ashley Jenke
She also raved about two of her favorite multifunctional kitchen staples. She said, “I really love the Tower Steel Fruit Baskets. They look so pretty with fresh produce on the kitchen counter or table. I also line them with linen and use them as a bread basket for dinner—they’re striking as coffee table décor or extra storage for open shelving.”
She continued, saying, “The Tosca Steel and Wood Bread Box has been an amazing item. It’s excellent for storing grab-and-go breakfast items, providing additional kitchen storage, and sometimes … the perfect place for hiding dessert from the kids!” When we asked Ashley what qualities stand out the most about Yamazaki Home designs, she didn’t miss a beat, saying, “Durability, streamlined design, and daily functionality.”
She explained that the clean, modern design effortlessly blends into her home while also adding order and flexibility to her family’s busy days. Jenke said she recommends Yamazaki Home to everyone! She explained, “The pieces help to keep everything visible and in place, while looking great.”
Since Jenke is a mother of two, we were excited to ask her how her family typically celebrates Mother’s Day. Her answer was a perfect reflection of her grounded, joy-filled approach to parenting. She said, “Typically, my husband arranges something fun for me to do by myself (like a massage or mani/pedi, etc.), and then something fun that we can all do together as a family. We like to go to our favorite local coffee shop and then take the kids to the park. We don’t have plans yet! ;)”.
For Jenke, it’s less about grand gestures and more about carving out intentional time, both for herself and for her family. That thoughtful rhythm is something that runs through all her routines, especially when it comes to creating traditions at home.
One of her favorite ways to celebrate? A beautiful, homemade brunch.
She said, “We usually make a special brunch. A few of our go-tos are quiche, crepes, or croissant French toast. Build-your-own yogurt parfaits with all the toppings—Greek or plain yogurt, fresh and dried fruits, nuts, jam, nut butter, and granola—are always a hit, and everyone can make their own exactly how they like it!" And when it comes to the little things that make Mother’s Day feel extra special, Jenke believes simplicity speaks volumes. She said, “Handmade cards are the best! Fresh flowers are always special. A slow morning is a treat. Be sweet and go with the flow.” For more ideas, checkout her recommendations for the Yamazaki Home Mother's Day Gift Guide.
